Breast tomosynthesis is a new x-ray imaging technology that acquires three-dimensional images of a stationary compressed breast. One benefit demonstrated in the Selenia® Dimensions® clinical studies considered by the FDA advisory panel showed that radiologists reduced their recall rates based on ROC analysis. 1,2 Hologic was the first to make a tomosynthesis system commercially available internationally and is the first and only company to make it available in the United States.

The documentary "Tomo Now" was created with doctors who have been using tomosynthesis all over the world as well as in the United States at beta facilities. The doctors candidly discuss the opportunities that tomosynthesis opens up as well as concerns over workflow, and clinical experiences with the technology.
