M-IV and M-IV Platinum Breast Imaging SystemsCourse SyllabusCourse Description:M-IV and M-IV Platinum Mammography Systems - (8 days). The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the industry guidelines regulated by the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA), familiarize the student with the system specifications, installation, operation, configuration, theory and maintenance, associated components, and sub-systems of the M-IV and M-IV Platinum including the high transmission cellular Bucky grid (HTC). The course structure is equally divided between lecture and lab time allowing the student ample opportunity to exercise their learned skills on a live, and functional system. Emphasis will be placed primarily on preventive maintenance/calibration of the system, and hands on troubleshooting of simulated malfunctions/errors. Manuals, Schematics and Technical Bulletins are provided to the students to aid in the maintenance and installation of the product. Testing is provided throughout the program to evaluate and review the students understanding. Students who satisfactorily complete the program will be awarded a certificate of completion. For technicians certified by the International Certification Commission (ICC), this course can be submitted for 4 continuing practice points towards the certification renewal requirements (under Category I - Courses). Course Prerequisites:Students should possess an understanding of x-ray systems, x-ray theory and film system imaging. An understanding of basic electricity, power, grounding, digital electronics and microprocessor technology will be essential. Fluency in English, both written and oral, is required. All domestic students are required to enroll and complete the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) course. Once accepted, you will be emailed the course for you to review prior to your arrival. An end of course test will be administered the first day of class. A score of 70% is required for successful completion of the course in order to receive the Certificate of Training. For all domestic field service engineers' successful completion of the course is mandatory. For our international service engineers it is highly desirable that you complete this MQSA course, as the information will be pertinent to the course material and structure, however, it is NOT required. Materials Required:To successfully complete this program a student must have access to a laptop computer with the following minimum configuration: 700mHz Pentium, Windows 2000 OS or later, CD-R, a 256 Mb flash drive, one available 9pin RS232 serial port, one available parallel port or USB port(s) for either of the previously stated port requirements and the required adapters and drivers if necessary, RJ-45 Ethernet port, adequately sized HDD with 1 Gb available space, 64M RAM and terminal emulation software such as HyperTerminal (Vista users note that HyperTerminal is no longer included with Windows). Software requirements also include Microsoft Office with Word, Excel and PowerPoint (Open Office is NOT acceptable as it has not always worked with various forms of software and test equipment used in the course). Hand tools, test equipment, including specialized devices are provided. Each student will receive a copy of the training handbook for the system along with any associated materials the instructor requires in the course of this training.
