Building a Culture of Conservation

To extend our sustainability commitment beyond our internal processes, Hologic works with our suppliers to establish policies that ensure environmental compliance and social responsibility along our value chain. 

Working with our partners to achieve high sustainability standards helps us better align with supply chain regulations. We completed our third conflict minerals SEC filing in May, which was based on 356 supplier survey responses. Our response rate improved to 73%. 

What We’ve Accomplished

Hologic is currently developing a Supplier Environmental and Social Responsibility Code of Conduct Policy, which will help us promote awareness about our sustainability efforts and reduce risks along the supply chain. Our collaborative efforts with our partners are already helping make an impact on their sustainability progress.

• A potential imaging supplier provided details about Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) compliance and its efforts to eliminate waste throughout its product life cycle.
• Our global sourcing team reviewed a label substrate supplier’s initiatives to improve environmental impact in its value chain. We addressed product life cycle analysis, production process improvements and reductions in water, energy and CO2.
• A major transportation provider presented its efforts to minimize environmental impact through fuel efficiency and CO2 reductions in air freight, employing a clean diesel ground fleet, using rail freight as an alternative to ground and diverting more than 120 million pounds of waste materials from landfills over the last decade. 

Our Work Isn’t Finished

Moving forward, we intend to formalize our internal policies and procedures for reporting on conflict minerals, REACH and RoHS compliance. We also are going to develop supplier processes for compliance audits based on a survey of sustainable practices, including ISO 14000/14001 certification status and compliance with global regulations. To help us evaluate our partners’ adherence to the Supplier Environmental and Social Responsibility Code of Conduct Policy, we also plan to implement supplier sustainability scorecards.
