Is there a special CPT code for IVA ? |

The major manufacturers have added a number of new features to their bone density measurement systems in recent years. IVA or (Instant Vertebral Assessment) is Hologic's name for a feature that provides is a low-dose alternative to routine spine radiographs that uses dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA).
IVA is an important tool in identifying current and future risk of vertebral fractures. It is well known that patients with low bone density and as few as one fracture, are at greater risk of future fractures. Therefore, when IVA and BMD (bone mineral density) results are combined, patients receive a better overall assessment of their bone health.
Reimbursement for Instant Vertebral Assessment is covered under a recently created Current Procedural Terminology or CPT® code (76077) for vertebral fracture assessment that is performed as part of a bone mineral density exam using dual-energy x-ray densitometers |

Can Hologic digital mammograms be read on GE workstations? |

SeleniaT digital images are sent to any softcopy workstation in the "For Presentation" format allowing them to be interpreted on DICOM compliant, diagnostic quality workstations. "For Presentation" simply means that the image processing has been applied and is ready for display.
All major softcopy workstation manufacturers, such as Hologic and GE, are approved for display of any vendor's digital mammograms. However, we do know that in the past GE has had issues displaying Selenia images on their workstations. I would recommend that you contact a GE representative, as they would be the most appropriate source to answer your question. |
