"Although I cannot come close to equating a mammogram with a spa afternoon, my experience with this new mammogram comfort pad significantly reduced the dreaded discomfort associated with the mammogram's big squeeze. The MammoPad creates warmth and softness in place of that all too familiar, cold, hard slab. In an effort to properly position us during compression, our ribs are often pushed up against the machine ledge. The MammoPad's cushioning eliminates that rib pain because it wraps around the surface edge. The experience is much improved. You feel pressure but not pain. My experience with the pad was wonderful! Instead of an icy cold slab, it was soft and warm and alot more comfortable. I've noticed with my last few mammograms that they seem to squeeze you a lot more than they used to - until your breast is really flattened out, so I especially appreciated the padding - it helped me tolerate the pressure. I was talking to a group of my friends about how much better it was, and two of them already had appointments to get their mammograms and wanted to find out how they could get the pad too. I can say that MammoPad is the greatest invention known to women. I've often wondered why in our day and age, getting a mamogram was so uncomfortable. This is one examination that I have had for the past 15 years and am fortunate that nothing has been detected. The exam has always been extremely painful and very uncomfortable but a necessity that I just endured. That has all changed, thanks to the Mammopad and Dobbs Ferry Community Hospital. The soft foam cushion reduced the pain by 75 to 80% and made the exam a lot more pleasant.
The use of the product and the combination of the warm comforting atmosphere at the Dobbs Ferry Hospital Women's Pavilion provided an important feeling of wellness and concern.
