Hologic Introduces Suros Needle Guide for
Aurora Dedicated Breast MRI System
New needle guide works with Aurora’s rotating block arm, enables better access to biopsy targets

Bedford, Mass (October 15, 2007) - Two leading imaging companies, Hologic, Inc. (NASDAQ: HOLX) and Aurora Imaging Technology, Inc., have paired their innovative products for MRI-guided breast biopsy to enable better access to those suspicious areas identified for diagnostic biopsy. The Suros needle guide insert fits to the Aurora rotating needle guide arm, allowing for full compatibility of the Suros ATEC® MRI breast biopsy device with the Aurora® 1.5Tesla Dedicated Breast MRI System.

“Aurora’s innovation in breast MRI is a perfect fit for the advances the Suros ATEC system has made in vacuum-assisted breast biopsy in this environment,” said Jim Pearson, president of Hologic’s Suros division located in Indianapolis. “Radiologists today expect medical devices to keep pace with the constant improvements in imaging technology. Putting our products together gives physicians just what they are looking for in being able to offer patients the best available technology on the market.”

With the addition of the Suros needle guide insert, physicians using the Aurora Dedicated Breast MRI system now have the capability to use Suros ATEC MRI breast biopsy devices with ease. Couple the fast, safe and easy use of Suros biopsy device with Aurora’s rotating needle guide arm, and physicians are able to reach challenging lesions identified using breast MRI – some that could not be reached before due to technology limitations.

Nearly 40 U.S. hospitals and breast centers use the Aurora Dedicated Breast MRI system, and more than 95 percent of those centers also use the Suros ATEC breast biopsy system. Aurora expects to double the number of centers using its dedicated breast MRI system in 2008. This follows national trends that indicate MRI screening and biopsy are on the rise. MRI procedures of the breast are expected to triple during the next six years, reflecting an annual growth rate of almost 20 percent. Additionally, more than 25,000 MRI-guided breast biopsies are expected to be performed this year. In March, the American Cancer Society issued new guidelines recommending annual screening using breast MRI in addition to mammography for women at increased risk for developing breast cancer.

“Aurora and Hologic share the same dedication and vision of advancing medical technologies that benefit women’s health,” said Olivia Cheng, ceo of Aurora Imaging Technology, Inc. “We both focus on providing and improving diagnostic imaging and interventional tools that enable physicians to offer the highest quality clinical care for breast cancer patients. We have been delighted to see how the collaboration between our companies, and the way our products have complimented each other has benefited both physicians and patients.”
