The summit brings together key decision-makers from around the world and encourages timely debate on emerging issues related to cancer. It also provides a forum to engage with global partners to open doors to new markets, expanding Hologic's reach globally and paving the way for equitable access to critical cancer diagnostics for women around the world. This year’s theme was “Cancer Control in a Changing World.”

Many of the objectives of the summit closely align with Hologic’s commitment to women's health and key initiatives like the Hologic Global Women’s Health Index and Global Access Initiative.

Dr. Anne Rositch, Senior Director of Real-World Evidence and Health Outcomes, Hologic Diagnostics Solutions, led a panel discussion on behalf of Hologic. The conversation convened experts from the implementation, policy, industry, global advocacy, and medical and health systems fields to discuss their vision for the next 5-10 years in women’s cancer control.

Hologic panelists included:

  • Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, Founder/CEO of Medicaid Cancer Foundation, Nigeria
  • Benjamin Anderson, Global Technical Lead for Breast Cancer
  • Miriam Mutebi, Breast Surgical Oncologist at Aga Kahn University Hospital, Nairobi
  • Dr. Somesh Kumar, Senior Director of New Initiatives and Innovations at Jhpiego

Julie Khani, Corporate Vice President of Government Affairs and Corporate Communications at Hologic, also participated in the event and was part of conversation about collaborative approaches being taken by public, private and non-profit organizations to reduce cancer rates and deaths around the world.

Dr. Philipp Mueller, Hologic Vice President of Medical Sciences and Insights, joined a conversation with fellow industry leaders that focused on collaboration and innovation to increase access to essential cancer diagnostics and medicines. “We all agree that further collaboration amongst all players across the care continuum is needed to ensure that technology innovations such as Hologic’s Genius AI and Genius Digital Diagnostics reach patients around the world,” said Mueller. “Joining forces with government agencies, funder, NGOs, and academia along with understanding and providing solutions for local needs is paramount in addressing the global cancer epidemic.”

The WCLS emphasized that, as a society, we currently have more evidence-based interventions than ever to address the increasing incidence and mortality of cancer in women. However, other innovations are needed to improve the delivery of existing and new technologies, financing, adoption of healthcare policies and ensure equitable access to high-quality diagnostics and treatment.

Hologic will continue to pursue every opportunity to engage with world leaders and health system influencers to improve the state of women’s health globally.
