DESIGNING SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTS AND PROCESSES

As we innovate our life-saving and life-enhancing products, we make sure we are building, manufacturing and packaging them in ways that are respectful of the environmental we all share.

We are continually developing new ways to reduce the environmental impact of our products and processes by designing products that can be refurbished, reused or recycled.

What We’ve Accomplished

We are making strides in reducing the use of redundant materials where possible, which helps cut significant costs associated with transportation, treatment and disposal. Among our efforts:

  • Our Danbury, Connecticut, office recycles all cardboard and wood pallets, in addition to sending waste to a trash-to-energy plant.
  • At our Londonderry, New Hampshire, facility, the bulk plastics we use for our ThinPrep® product line, including trays, caps and vials, are received in bins that we use to ship materials back to the vendor, saving tons of cardboard each year.
  • Our San Diego, California, location collects green gardening waste for composting and recovers condensation from air handlers to save millions of gallons of water annually.

Our Work Isn’t Finished

To fortify our recycling and reuse efforts, we plan to establish concrete goals for recycled material, both in our products and within our value chain. For each of our products, we will incorporate best-in-class restorative and regenerative design principles to make them sustainable throughout their life cycle.

We intend to roll out a formal program to engage our employees in circular economy practices, including recycling committees and sustainability campaigns.

For each of our products, we will incorporate best-in-class restorative and regenerative design principles to make them sustainable throughout their life cycle.
