Tools for proper collection of the ThinPrep® liquid-base Gyn specimen.

Specimen collection is a key factor in obtaining adequate and representative samples for analysis. When collecting a specimen it is important to use appropriate devices and techniques, such as avoiding the use of lubricants.

The use of lubricants should be avoided prior to specimen collection. Lubricants can adhere to the filter membrane and may cause poor cell transfer to the slide. If its use is unavoidable, the lubricant should be used in minimum amounts, a carbomer- free lubricant is recommended.
