    Overview

    Documents

Premature Rupture of Membranes (PROM) is One of the Leading Causes of Preterm Birth.1

Amniotic fluid is not typically found in the vagina, but when membranes rupture, amniotic fluid leaks into the vagina and insulin-like growth factor binding protein-1 (IGFBP-1) concentration rises quickly.

Symptoms of PROM differ between patients, so diagnosing this condition can often be challenging and time consuming.

Actim PROM – A Unique Test That Detects IGFBP-1 in Vaginal Fluids.2

IGFBP-1 concentrations in amniotic fluid rise early during pregnancy and remain elevated until birth. Actim PROM is based on highly specific and unique monoclonal antibodies that bind to IGFBP-1.

Thanks to its optimal cut-offs, Actim PROM can identify even the smallest of ruptures with minimal risk of false positives due to the very low levels of IGFBP-1 normally found in the vagina during pregnancy.

    Detection of PROM.2

Actim PROM is a visually interpreted, qualitative immunoassay rapid test for the detection of amniotic fluid in cervicovaginal secretions during pregnancy.

A Rapid Diagnostic Test for the Detection of PROM.2

Actim PROM results available in 5 minutes.

Specimens for testing can be collected with or without a speculum.

Actim PROM remains effective in the presence of some vaginal bleeding, a condition present in up to 20% of PROM patients.3

Accurate PROM diagnosis helps enable proper patient care while avoiding unnecessary treatment and reducing costs.

Hologic is now the exclusive distributor for Actim PROM in the United States.

*The test has been designed to minimize interference from bleeding, but in cases of heavy bleeding the blood locally may have a higher concentration of IGFBP-1 protein. In these cases, a positive result should be interpreted with caution.
